Kelly Guzman, PA-C
Physician Assistant, Joint & Bone Institute of California
Orthopedic Physician Assistant supporting musculoskeletal care, procedures, injections, and postoperative recovery at Joint & Bone Institute of California.
Supporting patients through every step of orthopedic care.
Kelly Guzman works closely with the physicians and care team at Joint & Bone Institute of California to help patients understand their condition, treatment options, and next steps. As an orthopedic Physician Assistant, she plays an important role in evaluating musculoskeletal concerns, interpreting diagnostic studies, performing procedures and injections, and helping manage care before and after surgery.
For many patients, the first orthopedic visit can feel overwhelming. Kelly’s role is to make that process clearer and more manageable. She helps patients talk through their symptoms, understand what their imaging or exam may show, and feel more prepared for the plan ahead — whether that involves conservative treatment, injections, therapy, additional testing, or postoperative follow-up.
Her work supports the broader JBI goal of providing timely, thoughtful orthopedic care close to home for patients in Bakersfield, Delano, and the Central Valley.
A practical, patient-centered approach.
Kelly’s approach is built around clear communication and steady support. Orthopedic care often involves more than a single appointment. Patients may need help understanding an injury, preparing for a procedure, recovering after surgery, or deciding what treatment option best fits their day-to-day life.
In each of those moments, Kelly helps bridge the gap between diagnosis and action. She works with patients to answer questions, explain recommendations, and keep care moving forward in a way that feels organized and approachable.
Her goal is for patients to leave their visit feeling informed, heard, and confident about the next step in their care.
Helping patients understand their options.
At Joint & Bone Institute of California, Kelly assists with both nonoperative and postoperative orthopedic care. That may include evaluating joint pain, reviewing X-rays or other diagnostic studies, assisting with injections or in-office procedures, and following patients through recovery after surgery.
This kind of support matters because orthopedic problems can affect work, family responsibilities, independence, and quality of life. Kelly helps patients understand not only what is happening medically, but also how the care plan connects to their goals — whether that is reducing pain, improving function, returning to work, or getting back to normal activities.
